 The Prime Minister Shram Yogi Maan-Dhan is a voluntary and contributory pension scheme aimed at providing security and protection to unorganized workers as well as elderly groups. The objective is to benefit approximately 42 crore workers in the unorganized sector across the country.

This scheme covers various categories of workers, including street vendors, rickshaw pullers, agricultural laborers, mid-day meal workers, construction workers, and others engaged in similar occupations. The estimated number of such unorganized workers in the country is around 42 crores. Under this scheme, the beneficiary will receive a guaranteed monthly pension of ₹3000 after attaining the age of 60, and in case of the beneficiary's death, 50% of the pension will be provided to the spouse as a family pension.

Some benefits provided under this scheme include a guaranteed monthly pension of at least ₹3000 for each beneficiary after reaching the age of 60. If the beneficiary passes away during the pension-receiving period, the spouse will receive 50% of the pension as a family pension. If a beneficiary has contributed regularly and passes away before the age of 60, the spouse is entitled to join and continue the scheme by paying regular contributions or exit as per the scheme's provisions and receive a refund.

To be eligible under the PM-SYM scheme, candidates must fulfill certain criteria:

1. Be an unorganized worker aged between 18 and 40.

2. Have a monthly income of less than ₹15,000.

3. Possess an Aadhaar card with an IFS Code linked to a savings bank account or Jan Dhan account.

Anyone associated with the organized sector (EPF/NPS/ESIC membership) and liable to income tax is not eligible to apply for the PM-SYM scheme.

To enroll in the Prime Minister Shram Yogi Maan-Dhan scheme, the eligible member must have a savings bank account, a mobile phone, and an Aadhaar number.

The individual can visit the nearest Common Service Centers (CSC e-Governance Services India Limited) and register for PM-SYM using self-attestation based on the Aadhaar number and savings bank account/Jan Dhan account number.

Beneficiaries can also visit the PM-SYM web portal for self-registration, utilizing their Aadhaar number/savings bank account/Jan Dhan account number for authentication.

The enrollment process is carried out through various registration agencies known as Common Service Centers. WGroup members can visit their nearby CSC with necessary documents to register for the PM-SYM scheme.

Life Insurance Corporation, ESIC/EPFO, and labor offices of both central and state governments will facilitate unorganized workers with information about the benefits and enrollment process of the PM-SYM scheme.
