The Pradhan Mantri Free Social Security Scheme (PMFSSY) is aimed at providing social security coverage to all individuals who are not covered under any formal social security scheme. It includes provisions for life insurance, accident insurance, health insurance, and pension benefits. The scheme is designed to provide financial security to vulnerable sections of society.
The Central Government has initiated the Toilet Scheme. Under this scheme, free toilets will be constructed in all those households that do not have toilets. The Central Government launched the Swachh Bharat Mission Gramin (SBM) on October 2, 2014. Its main objective was to build toilets in all rural households by October 2, 2019. This mission has now been extended until the year 2024.
So far, approximately 10.9 crore individual household toilets have been constructed across the country. The government provided a grant of ₹10,000 under the Free Toilet Scheme for the construction of toilets. This amount has now been increased to ₹12,000. This scheme will prove effective in empowering and making citizens self-reliant. In addition, the implementation of this scheme will also improve the standard of living of the country's citizens.
The main objective of this scheme is to ensure the availability of toilets in all households across the country. Under this scheme, beneficiaries will be provided with a grant amount to enable them to construct toilets in their homes. This scheme will prove effective in improving the health of the country's citizens. In addition, the implementation of this scheme will make the citizens of the country empowered and self-reliant. The Toilet Scheme will also prove effective in improving the lives of the country's citizens. So far, the government has constructed more than 10 crore toilets under this scheme. This scheme is being implemented under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
